Prison Hill Recreation Area is located South East in Carson City, Nevada. Not only is Prison Hill visible from anywhere in Carson City, but it also holds the record for the highest Open Space area. The summit sits at roughly 5,700 ft. There are over 2,500 acres of open space to explore and offers all land travel opportunities. 600 acres on the South side of Prison Hill are open to Off Highway Vehicle use and the rest of the open space to the North is open to hiking, biking and equestrian use. There are also several rock outcroppings that are great for rock climbing and already have chains and anchors set up! You can find parking for access to Prison Hill on Carson River Road, at Silver Saddle Ranch, at the East ends of Koontz Lane and Clearview Drive, and all of Golden Eagle Lane. Remember to observe all applicable rules and regulations when recreating in this area and always practice responsible outdoor ethics!
