Silver Saddle Ranch Open Space is one of the hidden gems in Carson City. This historic property's origins go all the way back to the Comstock Lode in the late 1800s. The Mexican Ditch runs right through the property which once fed water into the Mexican Mill that processed materials from Virginia City mines. Once mining was over, the ditch remained and became necessary to the agricultural operations and ultimately led to creation of Silver Saddle Ranch in the 1950s. The famous Red House that was built on the property in that time still remains today. Silver Saddle Ranch was transferred over to Carson City in 2015 as part of a historic lands bill that also came with Prison Hill. Now, Silver Saddle Ranch Open Space serves Carson City as a gateway to miles of trail! You can access Silver Saddle Ranch off of Carson River Road on the South East side of Carson City, Nevada. Remember to observe all applicable rules and regulations when recreating in this area and always practice responsible outdoor ethics!
20% of all proceeds for this poster goes to the Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch. FOSSR was started in the 1997 when Silver Saddle Ranch was transferred to the Bureau of Land Management. They help manage and care for the property and commonly host fundraising events at the historic Red House.
